| Why use Safety Gate Monitors? |
In
an industrial process where machinery is separated from the operator by
a safety gate or grid, it is essential that a control mechanism is
established to ensure that;
(a) the machine can only be started when the gate is closed,
(b) the machine is stopped when the gate is opened.
Model BD 5985 has been designed to operate in conjunction with two
mechanical switches whose operation is governed by the physical
position of the safety gate. The final arrangement will satisfy the
above conditions and furthermore will only permit restart if the gate
is closed in a prompt positive fashion. The relay will fail to the safe
position in the event of component/wiring failure. Housed in a compact
45 mm wide enclosure suitable for DIN rail mounting BD 5985 is fitted
with positive guided contacts and incorporates redundant self checking
circuitry. The unit complies with VDE0435 (IEC255). VDE0113 (IEC 204-1)
and German Employers Liability Association ZH1-457.
- This unit is suitable for Category 3 applications.
Model BN 5986.02 meets all the requirements above and has the following features:-
- Cross fault monitoring of the gate switch circuits via two sets of changeover switch contacts.
- A remote reset facility, to avoid gate operation on machine start up.
- LED indication.
- This unit is suitable for Category 4 applications.
