PRODUCT ARTICLES New proximity Sensor Offers Extremely Long (50 mm) Range and Fully Embeddable Design. Minneapolis, MN—October 10, 2000—TURCK Inc. has introduced the Q80—a fully-embeddable proximity sensor offering an exceptional 50 mm (2.0") sensing range and dual diagnostic indicators. The Q80's dual diagnostic indication system provides a constant display of operating status that is visible from many different angles, including above and below the sensor. The combination of exceptional range, dual-diagnostics and embeddable design makes the Q80 an ideal solution for a broad range of automotive, material handling and conveyor applications. Even when fully embedded in steel, the Q80 provides a 50 mm sensing range. The long range allows target objects to be positioned farther from the sensor, avoiding impact damage and interference from moving parts during the sensing process. Like the rest of the Uprox® line, the Q80 can sense all types of metals at a single sensing range, including mild steel, stainless steel, copper, brass and aluminum. Uprox technology enables users to inventory fewer sensors and eliminates downtime for adjustments when target materials change. Uprox technology also provides inherent weld-field immunity, eliminating false sensor triggering and assuring reliable operation in the most sever AC or DC weld fields. List prices for the Q80's advanced technology begin at $170. The Q80's dual diagnostic indication system consists of tow sets of two LED indicators located on the face and front edge of the sensor. Green LEDs indicate "Power On" and "Output Energized," and flash in the event of a short circuit. Red LEDs indicate "output Energized." The Q80 proximity sensor is available in 3-wire DC models, with NO (normally-open) outputs or NC (normally-closed) outputs, a 4-wire DC model, and a 2-wire AC/DC model. Integral circuitry protects against short-circuit, overload, wire-break and reverse polarity. An optional 500 ms time delay is available on all models. The rugged one-piece Q80 housing is constructed of plastic PBT that meets NEMA 1, 3, 4, 6, 13 and IEC IP67 standards. The sensor's operating temperature range is -25°C to +70°C (-13°F to +158°F). A unique DIN mounting bracket allows users to snap the Q80 directly onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail. The sensor is available with a quick-disconnect or a potted-in cable. firefast™ Protective Cable Sleeving Withstands Heat up to 240°C. Minneapolis, MN—September 1, 2000—TURCK Inc. has announced firefast™ — protective sleeving that insulates cordsets and sensors from damaging high-temperature materials. Constructed of heat-treated, acryl-coated braided fiberglass, firefast provides protection from flames and molten materials in welding and other applications. The new sleeving offers simple and cist-effective protection for cordsets and sensors in extreme condition industries, including resins, coatings and metal fabricating. Specifically treated to withstand high temperatures, firefast covers cordsets and sensors, insulating both from the hot materials that build up on them during production, such as molten resin and weld-slag. firefast covers the quick disconnect connectors as well, keeping them clean and debris-free. firefast sleeving slides on easily with a friction fit and reduces maintenance and replacement time by keeping cordsets flexible and functioning properly. The sleeving will not deteriorate or fray when severely bent or pushed . In addition, it is safe to use. firefast will not contaminate or damage terminals, or corrode and type of exposed surface. firefast protective sleeving fits over all minifast®, eurofast® and microfast® cordsets and sensors; and is available in 152 mm (6.0") lengths. The durable sleeving withstands Class C temperatures of -70°C to +240°C (-94°F to +464°F). firefast is rated NEMA TF-1 and certified UL VW 1.
